A training program should involve an exercise stress placed on the body and every workout has a slightly higher stress than the workout before this is called a periodisation overload training program. There are three phases, the Macrocycle, Mesocycle and Microcycle and this simply just breaks the training program up into smaller chunks, but when put together they all work towards the long-term goal.
